| State & Perkins most important intersection in Ukiah |
|||||||||
![]() |
This is one of the oldest intersections in Ukiah. The Mendocino County Court House has been located here since the 1850s. The Savings Bank of Mendocino County was originally located on the northeast corner (now the right hand turn lane for people heading west on Perkins). The Marks Building (Ukiah Brewing Company) has been on the southwest corner since 1890 (only a small portion of the 1889 structure survives). The southeast corner was the home of the Cecil Hotel until it was replaced by Rexall Drugs in the 1960s. When the original Palace Hotel burned in the 1880s, some of it's bricks were used to fill in potholes in Perkins. This has been, and always will be, the most important intersection in the City of Ukiah. |
