Ukiah Union High School
one of the first high schools in California
One of the first High Schools in California, Ukiah Union High School opened
in the late 1800s. The beautiful Victorian style building was destroyed in a fire
in 1928. A new, much larger, Art Deco inspired building was built in 1928.
Because of the fear of earthquakes this building was demolished in 1976 and
replaced by a parking lot. Ukiah High School moved in the early 1980s to a
much larger campus. The old location has since become the home of
Pomolita Middle School.
